KARSTEN, REV. HENRY T. and EVELYN MARIE

Rev. Henry T. Karsten, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 26, 2021. Eight weeks later, on June 21, 2021, his wife and partner of sixty-six years, Evelyn Marie Karsten (Petroelje), 90, went home to her Savior Jesus Christ as well. They passed away in their home in Visalia, California. They have been interred next to their son, Mark Anthony Karsten in Woodlawn Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Michigan, who passed away on August 11, 1989. The family seeks to honor Henry and Evelyn and their lives of faith and service by gathering on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Brookside Christian Reformed Church, 3600 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, MI. The family will receive relatives, friends, and guests at the church at 10:00 AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00 AM. Then, a lunch reception will be held at the home of Julia de Jonge and Paul Karsten, 948 Floral Avenue in East Grand Rapids. All are invited and encouraged to attend one or all of these events. Henry and Evelyn are survived by daughter-in-law Sheri Laninga of Fennville, MI (Darryl Bolt); daughter Mary of Visalia, CA (Arnold Sybesma); son Paul of Grand Rapids (Julia de Jonge); daughter Ruth of Lynden, WA (Daren De Boer); 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The only surviving sibling is Henry’s sister, Winona VanderWest, of Grand Rapids. Donations in their memory can be given to Resonate Global Missions, a ministry of the Christian Reformed Church.
