Karen June Ver Hulst

Karen June Ver Hulst, age 74, of Wyoming, went to be home with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 surrounded by her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Marge Vander Werf and her sister, Virginia Vander Werf.  Karen graduated from Hope College in 1963.  She was a good and faithful servant at Grace Reformed Church for over 50 years where she also served as an organist, gardener and in many other capacities.  Over the past 61 years, Karen taught piano lessons to countless students. She was a meticulous gardener as evidenced in her words by “God’s Garden” at Grace Reformed Church and at home. Her faith and family were paramount in her life.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 54 years, William; her children, Clark and  Meribeth Ver Hulst, Julie and Brett Dyke, Bart and Rosemary Ver Hulst; grandchildren, Jordan (Julie) Ver Hulst,  Ashleigh (Austin) Bettis, Zack Ver Hulst, Steven and Evan Dyke, Harrison Ver Hulst; great grandchildren, Kynlee Ver Hulst, Amayah Bettis; sister, Elaine (Gordon) Damsteegt; brother-in-law, John (Jean) Ver Hulst; sisters-in-law, Lois (Jack) Kelly, Phyllis (Bruce) Moody, Shirley (Jim) Wissink; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 11 am at Grace Reformed Church, 3330 Burlingame SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Rick Oppenhuizen officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.   In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grace Reformed Church.
