Juventino “Blackie” Herrera

Juventino “Blackie” Herrera, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 3, 2016.  He was born December 26, 1928 in Durango, Mexico and later moved to Grand Rapids.  A devout Catholic, Juventino was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He was preceded in death by his grandson, Ricardo Martinez; his parents, brothers and sisters.  He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Rosa Herrera; his children:  Rosemary and Daniel Guzman, Theresa Herrera, Mark Anthony Herrera; grandchildren: Yasmine Martinez, Daniel Herrera, Angelica Benitez, Mark Herrera, Jaime Benitez, Vanessa Benitez; 7 great grandchildren; many brothers and sisters.  He retired from Keebler after 24 years of faithful service.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday 11 am at Holy Name of Jesus, 1630 Godfrey Ave. SW with Fr. Stephen Dudek Celebrant.  Interment Rosedale Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2-9 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Thursday from 10-11 am at the church prior to the service.  A Rosary will be held Wednesday 8 pm at the funeral home.  Memorial contriubutions may be made to Carol’s Ferals.
