April 16, 2026

Julia Ann VanLiew, age 58 of Grant, passed away at her home peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Julia was blessed with a huge heart and would kindly do anything for anyone, carrying that same compassion into a strong and dedicated work ethic throughout her life. She spent 28 years in the insurance industry as an associate account manager - health benefits, where she was respected for her knowledge and commitment. Above all, her family was her greatest priority and the center of her life.  She looked forward to all family events and could usually be seen with a Corona Light in her hand. Julia found joy in the outdoors, taking great pride in her meticulously cared-for yard and flower gardens. She also enjoyed trips to the casino, always hoping the buffalo slot would be good to her! A wonderful cook and baker, she lovingly shared her talents with family and friends, creating meals and memories that will be cherished for years to come.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 27 years, Bob VanLiew; children Robbie VanLiew; grandchildren Jax and Boone VanLiew; parents Bill & Mary Sutton (Hickey); siblings Brenda (Ernie) Meyer, Patty Sutton, Jim Sutton, John (Dawn) Sutton, Jennifer (Matt) Steward, honorary brother Dan (Jennifer) Hickey; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Wanda VanLiew, brother-in-law Stuart VanLiew, maternal grandparents Stephen & Hulda Sutton and Dan & Sopha Hickey.
A private family graveside service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa, MI. Everyone is welcome at a Celebration of Life open house to honor Julia on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1:30 - 3:30 pm at Saint Edwards Family Center, 531 Jordan Lake St., Lake Odessa, MI.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Lakewood Area Lions Club, PO Box 494, Lake Odessa MI  48849.  Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com
