December 30, 2024

Judith K. Miller (Geighes) of Grand Rapids, MI was welcomed into heaven on December 30, 2024 surrounded by her loving family, after a short battle with cancer. Judy was born on November 16, 1945, in Aurora, IL, to Lawrence and Theresa (Sabo) Geighes who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her only sibling, Larry Geighes. She graduated from East Aurora High School in 1963 and went to work for Alitalia Airlines in Chicago, IL. In 1967, she married James Miller, who preceded her in death in 1975.

Judy was the Matriarch of the “Miller girls”: daughters Pamela Young (fiancé Phillip Siegel, Jr.), Stacy Steele (fiancé John Spangler, Jr.), Jamie (Joel) Ombry, and Jodie Elrod. She was a proud grandma to her two grandchildren, James (Alison) Young and Jordyn Young, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law: Dick and Jeff Miller; and a niece, nephews, and other beloved family. The love for her family was a guiding force in her life, and she was immensely proud of their accomplishments.

She attended St. Jude Catholic Parish and had many friends including her condo neighbors, the Tea Cup Ladies, and the Northview Senior Center. She was “Mom” to many.

Her hobbies included gardening, thrifting with her daughters and granddaughter, and playing Skip-Bo and Euchre. She believed that no meal was complete without dessert!

Judy loved spending time with family and friends, and she had a knack for making everyone feel special and loved. She was known for her serving heart, welcoming hospitality, and her deep care for others. Judy’s life was a testament to her faith in God. She lived her life with endurance and courage, always putting others before herself. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. We love you, Mom.

A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4 from 1-3 p.m. at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont. Judy will be laid to rest with her husband, James, in Aurora, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
