Joyce Evon Meines-Johnson, age 79, of Wyoming, MI was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 16, 2026. Joyce passed peacefully at Blodgett Hospital following a short illness. Her grandchildren were in the room at the time of her passing into Glory. Joyce was born in Bellingham, Washington to Carl and Lena Roosendaal. She grew up Lynden, Washington, attended Lynden Christian Schools, and graduated from Lynden Christian High School in 1964. Following high school Joyce moved to Grand Rapids to work at what was then Pine Rest Christian Hospital, and not too long after moving to Grand Rapids Joyce met Harold J. Meines in a bowling league. Harold and Joyce were married in 1972. Harold was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and Joyce and Harold both became very active in Veteran Affairs activities and events throughout Western Michigan. Harold and Joyce had one daughter, Kristie Lynn, who was raised in Grand Rapids. Harold passed away in 1999. Joyce had a long career as an employee of Meijer Stores, working mostly in the deli department. In 2001, Joyce married Arnold (Arnie) J. Johnson, a veteran of the United States Army, and they lived in Wyoming, Michigan. Joyce and Arnie had many good years together before Arnie passed away in 2022. Joyce was a long-time member of Ideal Park Christian Reformed Church, where she had many friends mainly through the women’s Bible study groups. Joyce had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and there was never a doubt in her mind where her eternal home was. After Arnold’s passing Joyce resided in an assisted living home in Grand Rapids where she again made many friends. Joyce also loved Word Search and went through an endless supply of Word Search books. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Kristie Dymond, of Bedford, Indiana, and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lena Roosendaal; her brother, Douglas; sister, Sharon Helmholdt; brother-in-law, Wayne Helmholdt; her first husband, Harold J. Meines, and her second husband, Arnold J. Johnson. A memorial service is being planned for later this spring. It will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan, where Joyce will be buried next to her first husband and Kristie’s father, Harold J. Meines.
