Joyce Elaine Folkertsma

On December 19, 2023, Joyce Elaine Folkertsma, aged 79, from Grand Rapids, MI, passed into her new life; a glory so long anticipated. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Beverly Folkertsma and Norma Kapteyn; a brother-in-law, Albert DeVries; as well as numerous nieces and nephews along with their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Laura Folkertsma; her siblings, Richard Folkertsma, Deanna and Klaas Kapteyn, Linda DeVries; her nephews, Daniel and Michael Kapteyn; nieces, Rachael Morrison and Joy VanLaar. Joyce was filled with hospitality, had many friends and enjoyed visiting and encouraging people with poems, artwork and music. Her artwork expressed a determined, faithful heart that leaned on Jesus. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 27 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood with a visiting time to follow.
