John Kuiper, Jr.

John Kuiper, Jr., of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 18, 2023 just before his 93rd birthday. John was a proud Korean War veteran of the US Army. He was a long-time home builder in the Grand Rapids area. He was a faithful servant and enjoyed serving in his churches as an elder and deacon and as a school board member. John was a lifelong member of Hope Protestant Reformed Church, and in his later years became a charter member of Grace Protestant Reformed Church. He will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, Delores, and his ability to socialize and make friends with anyone he met. John was preceded in death by his parents, Arend John and Bernice Kuiper; infant daughter, Cheryl Ann; two grandchildren: Ashley and Emma Kuiper; siblings, Connie Timmerman, Annette Heidema, and Philip Kuiper; in-laws, Luke Timmerman, Don Heidema, Tom Gilligan, Phyllis Rau, Lorenz and Madeline Bertsch, LeRoy and Erna DeWald, and Thelma DeWald. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Delores; children, Joyce and Scott Boverhof, Ron and Marlys Kuiper, John and Renita Kuiper, Pam and Dave Moelker; 11 grandchildren: Eliese Moelker, Courtney Moelker, Abbie Kuiper, Liam Kuiper, Colton (Josie) Kuiper, Brandon Boverhof, Eric Moelker, Jenna Kuiper, Sarah Kuiper, Malea Moelker, Nolan Moelker; sister, Mary Gilligan; in-laws, Norma Kuiper, Alvin Rau, and Milo (Dena) DeWald; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Grace Protestant Reformed Church, 11225 8th Ave. NW, Grand Rapids with Rev. Erik Guichelaar officiating. Burial will take place at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Sunset Legacy Foundation.
