John Bouma

April 10, 1928 ~
March 7, 2021

John Bouma, age 92, of Holland, passed away peacefully at home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 7, 2021. John was a man of God. He was always very generous with the resources God had given him. John was the son of Dutch Immigrants who taught him the value of hard work with Christian values at a young age. John and his brother Paul started Bouma Tile Company in 1950; entrusting God to guide them. John was blessed with leadership skills needed in business. He surrounded himself with like-minded employees as the business grew into the Bouma Corporation whose guiding principle remains; “Honor God in everything we do!” John is reunited in Heaven with his loving and devoted wife, Sharon K. Bouma; his son, John Bouma Jr., his parents, Henry and Katie Bouma; his siblings, Catherine (John) Oosterhouse, Bertha (John) Flietstra, Paul Bouma, Beulah Hofstra, and Henry Bouma; and many other family and friends already there. John is survived by Doug (Trish) Bouma, Susan (Tim) Small, Pam (Bob) Molenhouse, Pam Bouma (John) Miller; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Betty Bouma, Carolyn Bouma; brother-in-law, Carl Hofstra; and many loving nieces and nephews. We will greatly miss our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful friend, but are absolutely confident that one day we will be together again, rejoicing in Jesus’ wonderful presence. Dad always gave God the praise, the honor and the glory for everything, as we do today. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at LaGrave Christian Reformed Church, 107 LaGrave Ave SE, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Peter Jonker officiating. Masks will be required at the service. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed with the following link: https://www.lagrave.org/funerals/. Interment will be held at Lakewood Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, March 11, from 4-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
