John Baar

John Bernard Baar, age 93, of Jenison, went to heaven to be with Jesus on Saturday, October 23, 2021. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Keller Transfer after 34 years. He was a proud supporter of Jenison Athletic Events. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He also volunteered for many years at Westown Jubilee, The Other Way Ministries, and 25 years at Meals on Wheels. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; his second wife, Phyllis; daughter, Gayle Baker; sister, Thelma (Robert) VanNoord; brothers-in-law, Robert VanNoord, Harold Steenbergen. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Jeff Baker, Craig and Julie Baar, Jan and Rick Hearn, Scott and Brenda Baar; grandchildren: Cory Stelter, Kylie and Don Anderson, Trent Baar, Steve and Elizabeth Hearn, Dave and Ashley Hearn, Jake Hearn, Kadin Baar, Maisie Baar; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Hearn, Brynlee Hearn, Cameron Anderson, Jayden Anderson; sisters, Doris Steenbergen, Donna and Arn Tillema; and several nieces and nephews. John was a charter member of Fair Haven Church (2900 Baldwin St., Jenison), where services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, with Rev. Greg VanderMeer officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville.
