John was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who cherished his family.  He had a big deep laugh and a fun sense of humor. Over the years, he enjoyed summers at Upper Hamlin Lake and traveling. Whether working outside in his yard, riding the trails in the Smoky Mountains, playing pickleball in Florida or riding his bike, he loved to be in God’s creation. John was also blessed with the gift of fixing anything and always had a project on his list. Above all, throughout life and with every challenge that it may have brought him, he was always grateful for God’s faithfulness in his life.  A service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. at Hudsonville Christian School, 3435 Oak St., Hudsonville, with Rev. Lew VanderMeer and Pastor Jason Nagel officiating. The service will be held on the lawn so please bring your own chair and a beach umbrella for shading the sun if needed. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held in the west gym of the school.  The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed at https://youtu.be/NTuhKhgv4TY. Please note that CDC guidelines will be followed, including social distancing, and wearing face masks will be required if the service needs to move indoors.  A private family graveside service was held at Georgetown Township Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to World Renew - Disaster Relief Services, Hudsonville Christian School, or Georgetown Harmony Homes.
