Jesus Morales, born 9.15.1946, originally from Agua Buenas, Puerto Rico, later of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the age of 77 in Holland, Michigan. We say goodbye to the last generation of siblings, who loved each other unconditionally. It has been a difficult and trying year for the Morales family. Jesus and his siblings lost their dad and brother at the age of 14 and their grandmother at 12. Together, they managed a great team to help their mother raise and take care of the family. When his sister turned 30, they lost their mother. His sister Mercedes (Chela) became their mother. Jesus (Bacho) travelled together with his brother Julio (Flaco) to the United States, seeking better employment. They joined the immigration wave of the 50s and 60s, making their lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Travel became limited back to Puerto Rico, but when he did visit, there was always so much love pouring out for each other. His love for his grandkids was one you couldn’t separate him from. We will love and miss you forever. Until we meet again, rest on and send the family our love. We love you Jesus, Bacho, Papi.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; his brothers, Victor, Jose, and Julio; his sisters, Antonia, Amparo, Mercedes, and Maria; his grandson, Ruben; and granddaughter, Briana; and a daughter, Angel.
He will be remembered by daughters, Adell, Dmitria, Martina, Amparo, Mercedes; and sons, Jesus Jr, John. He leaves behind 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews and other family members in Puerto Rico.
Funeral Services will be held 10am on Friday, May 31 at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Avenue, Wyoming, with Deacon Martin Zapata officiating. Burial will be held at Garfield Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Jesus’ honor may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
