November 3, 2022

Jerald Calvin Willison, age 79, of Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2022, surrounded by his family. He retired from the City of Grand Rapids after 35 years of service. Jerry also delivered The Herald paper on his bicycle as a kid. While working for the city, he became a local hero when he saved a co-worker from an accident that occurred while digging piping trenches. His favorite pastimes included watching Westerns and being outdoors, whether hunting, fishing or traveling west with his buddy. He will be remembered for being a bargain shopper, visiting the flea market every weekend and talking his way into the best deals. Jerry was a collector of many things over the years; one man’s junk was Jerry’s treasure. A lover of animals, he gave many shelter dogs and strays a loving home and always enjoyed having their company. He will also be remembered for giving nicknames to many of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed for his crazy ways and storytelling, unexpected visits, and love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge Willison and Tossie Feltzer; many half siblings; the mother of his three children, Sandy Willison; and son-in-law, Gary Wohlford. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Randy (Dora) Willison, Lorie Wohlford, Stacy (Jeff) Truax; grandchildren: Amber (Ben), Travis (Holly), Chelsey, Misty, Alexis, Hemi; 10 great-grandchildren: sisters, Marcia (Dick) Kooiker, Phyllis Willison; many nieces and nephews including special niece, Tammie Johnston. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Emmanuel Hospice or the Humane Society of West Michigan.
