Jeannette Smead

Jeannette Smead died Monday the 6th of February at Sunset Retirement Village.  Born in 1919 in Grand Rapids, MI, Jeannette worked during World War II as a Rosie Riveter and she started driving a Model T at the age of 12.  She was married to Darwin Smead and had three children.  She worked hard all her life to care for her family.  Jeannette donated many hours to her church and worked with Love, Inc. for many years.  She lived by the three ‘F’s’, family, faith, and friends.  She loved good food, socializing and playing cards with family and friends.  Her wonderful smile would light up a room.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Darwin Smead; her children, Don Lowing and Sandy Troutwine; great great grandchildren, Kylie Woods and Brendon Woods; parents, Hugh and Anna Dennis; brother, Carl Dennis; sister, Lucille Emerson; brother-in-law, Ellis Hansen.  She is survived by her daughter, Patti Smead (Leonard Koons); grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brother and sister, Leo (Ruth) Dennis, Lois Hansen; sister-in-law, Doris Smead.  She had many nieces and nephews who called her Aunt Net, who loved her very much.  Funeral services will be held Friday 11 am at St. John Lutheran Church, 9628 48th Ave., Jenison, with Rev. Tim Verity officiating.  Interment Allendale Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. John Lutheran Church.
