Jay G. Schaaf

Jay Gordon Schaaf, aged 88 of Kentwood, went to be with his Lord on Monday, January 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Anna Schaaf, and sister, Kathryn Pitt. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Maxine “Micki” (Westra); their children, Susan (Mo) Shamali, Sandra (Bob) Bennett, Dave Lauritzen, Sally (Ken) Colter, Sherri (Ralph) Bowden; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Jay worked for Steelcase for 40 years, retiring in 1991. Memorial services for Jay will be held this Friday at 11:30 am at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Chapel (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, with Pastor Dan Wright officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral chapel from 10 am until the time of the service. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Mel Trotter Ministries.
