Janet Lynn Austin

Janet Lynn Austin, age 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Janet loved all things Disney (especially the villains), winters at Madeira Beach, springtime in Kentucky, pontoon rides and summers spent at the cottage. Above all else, she was fiercely devoted to her family and especially her precious grandsons. In her professional career as a CNA, she provided compassionate care to the elderly at several area nursing facilities. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerrit and Delores Emelander and brother, Chris Emelander. She will be forever adored by her husband of 51 years, Gary; children, Jenny and Ryan Hitchcock, Holly Kate Austin; grandsons, Bryce, Alex, Boyd, and Victor; brothers and sisters, Jack and Marcee Emelander, Connie and Jim Knauss, Judy and Jerry Pitsch, David and Dawn Emelander, Melissa and Mitch Raible; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Judy and Bud Kloosterman, Garth and Linda Austin, David Austin, Deb Austin; many cherished nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc. or American Cancer Society.
