James William Dietrich, age 75, of Wyoming, was called to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus, on Thursday, November 25, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Dietrich and Marilyn Waskelis; son, Jeffery J. Dietrich; mother-in-law, Dorothy Slocum; brother, Billy C. Dietrich; grandmother, Irene Hill. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dorothy (Dottie Ann); his furbabies, Daisy and Buck; his children: Danielle Sluiter, Cheryl Griffin, Jerry Sluiter, Kim Decker and Ted Minuth; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Vern Olmstead; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathi and Bill Rettler; his grandchildren: Carly Sluiter and Caiden Mead, Willow Sluiter, TJ Decker and Anna Currier; many nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins and dear friends. Jim valiantly served his country as a Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army and retired from the military after 34 years. He enjoyed golfing and cooking and spoiling his family and friends with his wonderful food. Jim was very handy and could fix or repair anything, from cars to refrigerators to washing machines. He loved doing models of anything to do with the Army. He especially loved get togethers with family and friends. Jim was a kind, loving man with a great sense of humor and a smile that could melt your heart, who enjoyed telling stories to his friends and family. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with Rev. John Vallier presiding. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
