James VanderVeen

James Todd VanderVeen, age 50, of Hudsonville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by his family on Friday, August 30, 2019. Jim was a loving husband, dad, and brother who cherished his family. His commitment of faith to his Lord and his family was evident to all who knew him. He was active in both his church and community, most recently serving as a trustee on the Blendon Township Board. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Elizabeth VanderVeen, Clarence and Helen Roersma; and his mother-in-law, Milly Fish. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Tonja (Fish) VanderVeen; children, Michael VanderVeen, Kayla VanderVeen; parents, Gerald and Carol VanderVeen; father-in-law, Dale Fish; brothers and sisters, Jerilyn and Ed Zylstra, MaryJo and Doug Kleyn, Sue and Andy Ponstein; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tami and Robb Talsma, Trinda and Derek deJong, Troy and Robin Fish; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Spring Valley Church, 5947 Lake Michigan Dr., Allendale, with Pastor Steve Smallegan officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Spring Valley Church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to United Sphere (an organization investing in the next generation).
