
James “Jim” Riva, age 83, of Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 18, 2022 and was called to his heavenly home surrounded by his family. Jim was a kind and loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend who was blessed with a great sense of humor. He had a great love for his Lord and Savior and lived his faith out by example. Jim proudly served his country in the US Army. He was blessed with a servant’s heart and was always there for his family and friends for whatever need. Some of the things that Jim enjoyed over the years were golfing, spending time up north at the property hunting and fishing. He retired from Alvan Motor Freight after 33 years of dedicated service. Above all, his love and devotion for his God and family was evident to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Kristina Riva; parents, John and Margaret Riva; grand-daughter, Sarah Dunn; son-in-law, Dan Jones; daughter-in-law, Betsi Riva brother; John “Jack” Riva; sister, Margaret Lloyd. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Tim Riva, Tammy Jones, Teri (Kelly) Miller, Tom (Cecy) Riva, Todd (Ginny) Riva, and Jenny (Steve) Longfellow; 18 favorite grandchildren: Sam (Asia), Alex (Evan), Michelle (Priscilla), George, Toni, Kelly, Alex, Cassie, Alyssa, Tiffany, Riley, Claire, Ben, Ashlee (Aaron), Emily (Zach), Courtney, Sydney (Tim), Steven; and 11 great-grandchildren: Amira, Giovanni, Dante, Serenity, Hunter, Lilly, Matthew, Daniel, Todd, Katelyn, Everly; siblings, Nancy (Tim) Corcoran, Joe Riva; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pete and Christy Sundholm, Stephanie Sundholm; many loving nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 11 am at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, MI. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
