James H. Roelofs, age 86, of Grand Rapids, born July 31, 1935 passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Roelofs; parents, Nick and Gertrude (Grote) Roelofs; sister, Norma Van Koevering; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Pearl Oosterheert. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Arlene (Oosterheert); sons, Doug and Dorothy Roelofs, Don and Sandy Roelofs, Dave and Shannon Roelofs; grandchildren, Tara and Tom LaRoche, Lindsey and Bill Fryling, Jared and Alyssa Roelofs, Tricia and Luke McLaurin, Chris and Angela Roelofs, Andrea Roelofs, Justin and Elle Roelofs, Ellie Roelofs, and Caleb Roelofs; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence Freye, Marcia Hoezee, Cheryl Kirby, Carol and Al Payne; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, 11 am at Bethany United Reformed Church, 5401 Byron Center Ave SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Eric Van Der Molen officiating. Burial Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, and from 10 to 10:45 am at the church on Saturday.
