
James Neymeiyer, age 94, of Jenison went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Jim's whole life had been centered around serving the Lord and others. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He often gave of his time to serve others worldwide. He always said, “God comes first, others are second, I’m third.” Throughout his life Jim had an adventurous spirit, and he loved to travel, go camping, and was a skilled craftsman and woodworker. In the last few years of his life, Jim found renewed love and joy with his wife Betty, with whom he loved spending time and laughed often. He will be remembered for his excellent example of Christ, his selfless personality, and his deep love for his family. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 65 years, Elaine; son-in-law, Marlin Brower; and 11 Neymeiyer siblings. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Betty; children, Steve and Kathy Neymeiyer, Lori Brower, Kristi and Larry Wood; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lauren Corey, Mitch and Amanda Meyer (Mason), Mark and Trish Brower (Parker, Livy), Andie and Michael Ruszkowski (Scotty, Josie); stepchildren, Jenifer and Scott, Gretchen and Jim, Kim and Kaj, Andrea and George (Vivian, Vincent); and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday January 10, 2025 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Mark Neymeiyer officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday from 12:30-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
