James Mooney

James Mooney, age 61, of Middleville, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.  He worked as a mechanic at Weller Trucking.  He loved being outdoors.  He loved riding and working on dirt bikes.  He also loved traveling and his yearly guys canoe trip.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Nicole; children: Nicholas Mooney, Amy (Michael) Farrell, Brett (fiancee, Nicole) Schultz, Tanner (Emma) Schultz, Dylan Schultz; many grandchildren; siblings: Denise Hamner, Laura Otto, Michael (JoAnn) Mooney; mother-in-law, Kaye Belson; brother-in-law, Bryan Belson; many nieces and nephews; beloved canine companions: Boone, Otis, and Ruby.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Letha Mooney; sisters: Kathleen and Virginia.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. SE, Caledonia, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating.  Burial will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Middleville.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to any animal rescue of one’s choice.
