James Mathew Dusendang

James Mathew Dusendang, age 86, of Wyoming, was called to his heavenly home on Monday, April 26, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Madeline Dusendang; sisters, Betty Eves, Donna Stratton; brothers, Bruce “Smokey” Dusendang, Michael “Pat” Dusendang; sister-in-law, Nannette Dusendang; brothers-in-law, Milo Eves, Gordy Stratton; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles and Dorothy Snyder. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Marcia; children, Jamie and James Schmuker, Lisa and Brent Shortsle; grandchildren, Tricia and Josh Haveman, Sarah Shortsle, Alex Schmuker, Andrei Schmuker; great grandchildren, Noah and Jacob Haveman, Sawyer Shortsle; siblings: brother, Frank “Duke” and Joann Dusendang; sister, Dorothy and Doug Magnusen; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Dusendang; brothers-in-law, Richard and Mary Snyder, Greg and Kerri Snyder; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Jim was a hard-working man who loved his family, the outdoors and his pet dogs. He was the life of the party and loved to be “silly” at family gatherings and events. Jim valiantly served his country during the Korean War in the US Army, Artillery Division. He enjoyed driving cars to and from auctions and dealerships after he retired from Kelvinator and Michigan Wheel. Even in retirement he was active playing golf and horseshoes, hunting and fishing. He was a dedicated supporter of St. John Vianney Parish. The family would like to thank the Staff of the VA office in Wyoming, and a special thanks to Kindred Hospice, Cindy, Denise, and Magda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with Rev. John Vallier presiding. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.
