James Henry Holtvluwer, age 82, of Georgetown Township, went home to his Lord and Savior on March 29, 2024. James loved Jesus, his family, and serving those in his community. He was a longtime member of Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church where he served in numerous capacities. He served as a public servant by serving as a Trustee and Supervisor for Georgetown Township, and as an Ottawa County Commissioner for 15 years. Also, he loved attending many of his children’s and grandchildren’s events.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Leona Holtvluwer; first wife, Mary Holtvluwer; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Holtvluwer and Milly Holtvluwer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 19 years, Rachel. He will also be missed by his children, Jay and Anne Holtvluwer, Marshall and Tammy Holtvluwer; step-children, Ben and Andrea Westdorp, Joe and Holly Westdorp; twelve grandchildren: Jordan and Kayla, Katlyn, Alex, Emma, Sydney, Joseph, Hayley, Ty, Ely, Spencer, Brooks, and Morgan; great-grandson, John Jordan; brothers, Doug Holtvluwer and Curt Holtvluwer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Paul and Julie Smith, Laura and Phil Bode, Aren and Elisabeth Smith; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation for friends and family will be on Wednesday, April 10, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. The memorial service will be at noon on Thursday, April 11, at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin St., Jenison, with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the service. Rev. Michael Ten Haken will be officiating. A private Interment for family will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery after the funeral luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Unity Christian High School’s building fund.
