James Edward Koetje

Koetje, James Edward James Edward Koetje, age 83, of Grandville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 30, 2014. Jim served his country during the Korean War. He had a heart for serving others, as was evident by his work trips to Honduras. Most of all, he was a man of faith who was committed to his church and devoted to his family, and he sought to live a life according to the truths of the Gospel. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Karla Kay. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Joan; children, Larry and Ida Koetje, Sheryl and Vic Schut, Linda and Brent Mulder, Karla and Doug Bandstra, Carol and Bryan Nyeholt, Penny Raap and Jason Quigno; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brothers, Harold and Annette Koetje, Henry and Harriet Koetje; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Koetje, Margie Koetje, Margaret Kortman, Julia and Bob Koster; brothers-in-law, Al Agema, Gerald and Audrey Kortman, Ken and Nella Kortman; many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Monday 1 pm at Trinity Christian Reformed Church, O-60 Port Sheldon Road, Grandville, with Rev. Howard Vanderwell officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township  Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Bethany Christian Services.
