James Betras

James Betras, age 90, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 18 years, Edith Betras; children: Doug and Vickie Betras, Donna Betras, Denise and Mike McMullen; step-children: Ralph and Lynn DeRosha, Diane Smithe, Rosie and Al Paschal, Debbie Nadolski, Dick and Lori Vereecken, Joyce and Bob McDonald, Sandy Vereecken, Kim Host; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister, Efthimia Colburn; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Avenue SW, Wyoming, with Pastor. Martin Rizzi officiating. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home and Friday one hour prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Spectrum Health Hospice and the Rockford Fire Dept. for their loving care in bringing Jim home.
