Jacob   Nyenhuis

Nyenhuis, Jacob NYENHUIS:  Jacob Nyenhuis, age 96, entered the presence of the Lord on Thursday, March 22, 2012.  He began his career with his uncle using one of the first tractors, an old John Deere model D, doing custom work.  He then bought his first farm and was a produce grower, finishing his career working his farm on Maplewood Drive in Jenison.  Jacob took great interest in the community by serving on the Georgetown Township Board for over 25 years, the Jenison Christian School Board, and as a deacon in the First Jenison Christian Reformed Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne; daughter, Gwen DeVries; a stillborn son, Richard; brother, Gene.  He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Henry and Chris Nyenhuis, Cathy and Gordon VanderBrug, Dennis DeVries, Jack and Jane Nyenhuis, Donna Nyenhuis, Marcia and Ed VerKaik; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Geneva and Bob Longcore; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Fran Nyenhuis, Dick and Grace Dykstra, Ben Huizenga; many nieces and nephews.  A private graveside service  will be held on Monday at Georgetown Township Cemetery.  A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Monday at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr., with Rev. Duane VanderBrug officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 3-6 pm at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Jacob and Jeanne Nyenhuis Educational Scholarship at Calvin College.
