Rafael Valentin

Rafael Valentin, age 80, of Grand Rapids, passed away and went to be with his brothers on Saturday, April 11, 2026.  He loved sweets, especially peeps and honey buns, and his coffee.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.  He was an all around good friend that seemed to know everyone and loved to visit with them.  He was a gifted handyman who worked non-stop until his time of passing  

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters: Diana (Eric) Valentin, Amaryllis Valentin, Lillian (Luis) Santiago-Valentin; wife, Yolanda Halliburton and her children: La-Wanda (Myron) Bryant, Brandi Halliburton, Helen Halliburton; grandchildren: Kaylie Woodwyk, Lucas Santiago, Leonardo Santiago, Riley and Tristan Halliburton, and many other grandchildren; sisters: Carmen Valentin, Flora Valentin, and Lily Valentin-Jimenez; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Valentin and Flora Nieves: 7 brothers. 

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Rafael’s life will be held at a later date.
