Jack Edward Slooter

Jack Edward Slooter, aged 94 of Wyoming, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2019.  Jack proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a prisoner of war in Germany.  He was a past commander of the American Legion Neal Fonger Post 179.  Jack retired after many years in the printing business at the Holland Sentinel.  He loved golfing, and served as president of the league at Maple Hill Golf Course.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth;  son-in-law, Thomas Lomonaco.  He is survived by his children: Wayne (Denise) Slooter, Diane Lomonaco; grandchildren: Jason Lomonaco, Stacy (Kevin) Patterson, Rebecca (Justin) Helsley, Holly Jones, Travis Slooter; great grandchildren: Gabriel and Charlotte Jones, Ethan and Aria Helsley, Ella and Aiden Patterson; brothers-in-law: George Pierson, David Martin; many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services for Jack will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 5333 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming with Rev. Peter Homeyer officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday from 10-11:00 a.m. at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
