
Jack D. DeVries, age 75, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Jack had a passion for working in the yard, especially when it came to tending his flower garden. He had a soft spot for the neighborhood kids. Jack also loved watching and feeding birds, often spending time by his many feeders. He was an avid garage sale enthusiast, always on the lookout for a great deal. A true homebody at heart, Jack found the most joy simply being at home, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Florence DeVries; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Tony Akkerman; brother, Larry DeVries; mother-in-law, Lois Roosien; father-in-law, Sidney Roosien; brothers-in-law, Chuck Hildebrand, Jim Elders; and sister-in-law, Wyn DeVries. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Pat DeVries; children, Jeramie and Erika DeVries, Tricia DeVries and Chris Castelein, Joel DeVries and Krystal Kinney; grandchildren, Owen DeVries, Adelyn DeVries; brother, Fred DeVries; sister, Betty Hildebrand; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lois DeVries, Lynn Elders, Mike and Joan Roosien; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Brent Beckett officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods or Fellowship Church.
