In Loving Memory of

Melinda Reyes Hinojosa

March 6, 1977 – October 24, 2026

Melinda Reyes Hinojosa, age 49, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, unconditional love, compassion, and strength that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Born on March 6, 1977, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Melinda spent part of her life in Texas before moving to Michigan, where she built her life and made countless memories with the people she loved.

Melinda was a woman whose heart seemed to have room for everyone. She was kind, loving, compassionate, and incredibly strong. She had a natural gift for taking care of others, and to many, she was like a second mother. Her family knew her as their rock—the person they could turn to at any hour, no matter the circumstances. If someone needed help, comfort, a listening ear, or a place to turn, Melinda was there.

Her home was more than a house; it was a place of welcome, comfort, and love. Her doors were always open to anyone in need, and she never hesitated to show up for the people she cared about. She touched countless lives through her generosity, her compassion, and her willingness to put others before herself. She was deeply loved by many, and the impact she made will never be forgotten.

Melinda had a special love for children and animals. She cherished her many nieces and nephews, loving them all equally and embracing the role of a second momma in their lives. The love she gave them was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and the enormous heart she carried. She also adored her beloved fur babies, Bella and Bunkie, and lovingly remembered Snickers, who had already gone to heaven.

Above all, Melinda was a woman of God and a devoted prayer warrior. Her faith was not something she kept to herself; it was something she shared with others. She helped lead her siblings and other family members to Christ, leaving behind a spiritual legacy that will continue through the lives she influenced. She prayed for others faithfully and drew strength from the Lord she loved.

“When I open my eyes and wake up, the devil gets scared!”

Those who knew her can smile through their tears remembering those words and the strength, confidence, and humor behind them. Melinda faced life with a faith that reminded those around her that God was always greater than the challenges before them.

Although she spent so much of her life caring for others, Melinda also believed in the importance of rest and relaxation. She understood that life was meant to be lived, cherished, and shared with the people and animals who brought joy to her heart.

Melinda is survived by her beloved husband, Alex Hinojosa; her siblings, Anita Silva Salazar, Adelita Silva, Amelia Silva Lopez, Nicolas Silva Hernandez, Julia Silva Hernandez, and Jose Israel Hernandez; her cherished nieces and nephews; and all the extended family and friends whose lives she touched. She also leaves behind her beloved fur babies, Bella and Bunkie.

Her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of those who loved her. The calls, the prayers, the laughter, the open doors, the unconditional love, and the comfort of knowing Melinda would always be there are memories her family will carry forever.

Though our hearts grieve her absence, we find comfort in knowing that the Lord she loved and served throughout her life is the Good Shepherd she trusted.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Psalm 23:1 (KJV)

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.” Psalm 23:4 (KJV)

Melinda's earthly journey has ended, but the love she gave, the faith she shared, and the lives she changed will continue to shine through the people she leaves behind.

She was our sister, our rock, our prayer warrior, and our second momma. She was deeply loved, and she will never be forgotten.

Rest in the peace of the Lord, Melinda. Until we meet again. ❤
