Ida Bazan

Ida Mae Bazan, age 87, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, after a long illness. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cathie and Jon Ulanch, Tom Zieziul and Natalie Killingstad, Pattie and Bernie Grooters, Joe Zieziul; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Janice Snyder; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ronald Bazan; and her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and JoAnn Carson. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1954 and started working at Michigan Bell where she worked for over thirty years. Ida enjoyed knitting and playing the organ later in life. One of her fondest memories was visiting Graceland because of her love of Elvis music. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. A Christian burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday, October 27, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with the Rosary being prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. An additional visitation will take place on Saturday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
