Hershel “Sam” Newton Pearson

Pearson, Hershel "Sam" PEARSON – Hershel “Sam” Pearson, aged 85, of Wyoming, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 16, 2014.  Sam was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and papa. Sam proudly served in the U.S. Army during Korean War. He will be sorely missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Barb; children Pam (Ron) Manning, Russ (Carol) Pearson, Tena (Greg) Jones; five grandchildren, Chad, Matt, Tara, Eric and Branden; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Alycia and Jaz.  He retired from PCA Packaging Corp of America after 45 years.  Sam was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed coaching SW Little League. Funeral services for Sam will be held Friday at 11:00 am at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Chapel (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo SE. Interment in Rosedale Memorial Park.  The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  The family requests that memorial contributions be given to American Cancer Society.
