Herman John Witteveen

Herman John Witteveen, age 77, of Grandville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 29, 2017.  Herman was born in the Netherlands and immigrated with his family to America when he was 15.  He was a veteran and proudly served his country in the Air Force.  Herman retired from US Postal Service.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Witteveen, and a brother-in-law, Bill VanderPol. Herman will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Nancy; children and grandchildren, Jonathan Herman and Melissa Witteveen (Tyler, Lauren), Janelle and Marc Hop (Kayla, Dominic, Lynnae, Andrew); brothers and sisters, Pieter and Susan Witteveen, Trudy VanderPol, Jean Wolverton, Jeanette and Eric Fransen; sisters-in-law, Gloria and Jim Schutz, Karen and Harvey Kruithof, Joyce and William Schulting; several nieces and nephews, and many family members still in the Netherlands.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Dutton United Reformed Church, 6950 Hanna Lake Ave. SE, Caledonia, with Rev Brian Najapfour officiating. Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. and on Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Right to Life or Shanghai Healing Home.
