Helga “Irene” Houston, age 82, of Wyoming, went to be with her saviour, Jesus Christ, on Monday, August 14, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; son, Perry James; brother, Wolfgang Liebetrau; sister, Regina Fechner; sister-in-law, Roselind Morrison. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Rose (Tim) VanderMeer, Linda (Mike) Youroski; grandchildren, Sara (fiance, Jesse) Bruinsma, Daniel (Sarah) Bruinsma, David (Lisa) Bruinsma, Travis Youroski, Tanya Youroski; great granchildren, Kieryn and Asa Bruinsma; sister, Rosemarie (Karl Heinz) Fechner; brother-in-law, Willi Fechner; many nieces and nephews; dear friends Joe and Maria Russo. Irene was a strong, loving woman who adored her grandchildren and loved to spend time with them. She met her husband, Eddie, in Germany while stationed there in the Army and came to the U.S. with him after getting married and giving birth to her son Perry James. She learned to read English by going over the contents of canned goods. Funeral services will be held Thursday 1 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Park.
