Helen Weeber Tubergen, passed away in Grand Rapids at St Ann's Home on February 23, 2025.  She was born in Queens, New York on September 25, 1923, as one of three sisters and a brother to Charles and Theresa Weeber, all of whom have preceded her in death. Upon completion of high school in Ridgewood, Queens, she took a job at Equitable Life Insurance Company in Manhattan.  In 1942, she met her future husband, Gerald L. Tubergen, who was from Grand Rapids and serving in the US Navy at the time. They were eventually married in May of 1945 as the war was drawing to a close.  She moved to Grand Rapids with her new husband, becoming a housewife and raising four children.  Her faith and her family were centermost in Helen's life. A devout Roman Catholic, she was a member of her Parish choir, a Eucharistic minister, as well as involved in other pastoral activities. She enjoyed a very active lifestyle working in and around her home, but seemed to be the happiest when she was celebrating the successes of her children and grandchildren.  Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Gerald; and is survived by her four children; Diane Busch of Wyoming, Roy Tubergen (Elizabeth) of Ashburn, Virginia; Kathleen Myers of Rockford, and David Tubergen (Linda) of Wayland; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at St. John Vianney Church, with Rev. John Vallier  presiding.  Burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family one hour prior to the mass.
