Harriet J. Sikma

Harriet Jeanne Sikma, age 86, of Allendale, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Roger Sikma; grandchildren, T.J. and Skylee Sikma; infant siblings, Berwyn Earl and Berna Merle Krommendyk; brothers, Bud and Will Krommendyk. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Terry and Val Sikma, Steve and Sue Sikma, Doug and Connie Sikma, Brenda and Dan Jansen, Tim and Connie Sikma, Deb and Dann Brower; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and one on the way; exchange students, Yuta, Masao, and Elbuchel, to whom she was a host mother; brothers, Berwyn and Hilda Krommendyk, Fred Krommendyk; brothers-in-law, John and Dorothy Sikma, Harold and Marge Sikma, Bill and Ev Sikma, Rick and Ruth Sikma; sisters-in-law, Luella Krommendyk, Sophie Krommendyk; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Harriet was the founder and owner of Pearline Manor in Allendale. Roger and Harriet would go on to 20 years of volunteer service for Wycliffe Bible Translators, Mississippi Christian Family Services, World Renew, and The American Red Cross. She finished her career as an in-home caregiver with Visiting Angels. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, with Tim Kauffman officiating. The burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday, December 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Second Church, 6950 Lake Michigan Drive, Allendale.
