Harold Graydon “Grady” Simonds, age 98, passed away peacefully at Faith Hospice--Trillium Woods in Byron Center, Michigan, on March 3, 2018. He is finally reunited in Heaven with his wife of 62 years, Margaret, and baby son, Richard Graydon. Surviving are his daughters Janet (Paul) Key-Heystek and Barbara (Greg) Simonds; grandchildren, David (Jenny) Key, Brian (Mindy) Key, Christopher (Shelley) Key, Katrina (Mark) Anderson, John Simonds and Raven Simonds; and 11 great grandchildren. Grady proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW2 and was awarded the Bronze Star while serving in England. When the war ended, he accepted a job with IBM in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and worked there over 30 years until he retired. Grady was an avid golfer, traveler, camper, and card player--competing and placing at Euchre tournaments until just months before his death. The family wishes to sincerely thank Nancy Snyder, his dear friend and “adopted” daughter, for the loyal and loving care she gave him for so many years. Per Grady’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service with military honors will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW, followed by coffee and some of Grady’s favorite desserts. In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Erika Marie West Memorial Scholarship Fund (raising suicide awareness) at any Macatawa Bank location would be appreciated.
