Gregory Smits

Gregory William ”Smitty” Smits, age 63, of Jenison, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Greg was a loving father and grandfather. He loved fitness, fishing, bike riding, and above all these hanging out with his family. Greg was well known for his generous heart, childlike spirit, infectious smile, and contagious laugh. He was preceded in death by his father, William Smits. Greg will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Mandy (Bernard) Austhof, Tauna Parfait; six grandsons; one granddaughter; his mother, Nancy Smits; two sisters, Sally (Roger) Meyer, Pam (Phil) Kuyers; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Woodhaven Reformed Church, 3959 68th St. SW, Byron Center, with Pastor Jon Alexanian officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, May 27, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Grand Valley Cadets or Right to Life of Michigan.
