
Gordon Jay Vruggink, age 71, of Allendale, passed away suddenly into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, April 3, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born May 9, 1953, to the late Jacob and Avis Vruggink.
Gord will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Denise Vruggink; children, Jami and Tim Batdorff, Tracy and Marc Algra, Josh and Anne Vruggink, Tara and Jason Kibbey; ten grandchildren, Dylan and Meghan Speet, Melissa and Braden DeVree, Dakota, Brycen, Kaiden and Lucas Algra, Jacob and James Vruggink, Cheila and Peyton Kibbey; siblings, MaryLou Driesenga, Ed Vruggink; brother-in-law, Bill Heinze; cherished nieces and nephews, Mike and Pam Driesenga, Rick Driesenga, Jay Hoezee, along with many other loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Heinze; and brother in-law; Larry Driesenga.
Some of his greatest joys were camping with his family, time with friends, fishing, gardening and the great outdoors. Gord also will be remembered for his great sense of humor and never letting a good opportunity for a banter go to waste. He found tear-filled joy in watching his grandchildren enjoy their interests. Gord established Vruggink & Son Excavating in the early 90’s, where he was an admired and respected owner. He was proud when his son, Josh, took it over years ago. His legacy will live on in his beloved family who will always treasure the time they had with him.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at Bauer Christian Reformed Church, 4958 Bauer Rd., Hudsonville, with Pastor Dave Ten Clay officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 6, from 2-5 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott Street and on Monday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allendale Christian School or Unity Christian High School.
