Gordon Thomas Dykhouse

Gordon T. Dykhouse, age 91, of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord, on Friday, August 20, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie and sister, Delphine Rehner. Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his children, Patricia and Dale Cook, Kathryn and Mark Oberlin, Ruth and James Billings, Thomas and Cathleen Dykhouse; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Thelma Brock, Sharon Hill, Tom and Diann Dykhouse; brother-in-law, Norman and Pat Nicholson; many nieces and nephews. Gordon was born and raised in Grand Rapids and graduated from GR Christian HS in 1948. He later joined the USMC. Using the GI Bill, he earned his engineering degree from Michigan State University and spent his career working for Rowe AMI as a manufacturing engineer. Gordon enjoyed traveling the US, camping, fishing and riding his bicycle on the White Pines trail. Memorial services will be held 3 pm on October 30, 2021 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Chaplain Judy DeBres officiating. Burial Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday from 1 to 3 pm at the funeral home prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
