Gilbert Meyer

Gilbert “Gil” F. Meyer, age 89, of Jenison, passed away at his home and was called to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 12, 2026. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic, dedicating many years to Kelvinator before retiring from L&W Engineering, where he worked in quality control. A devoted and supportive father and grandfather, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his children and grandchildren in all their activities. He had a love for sports and generously gave his time coaching numerous little league teams over the years, leaving a lasting impact on many young athletes. His faith was an important part of his life, as he was a longtime member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids and later Fair Haven Church in Hudsonville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Meyer in 1979; and his son, Craig Meyer. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Lauri and Kevin Amey, Sheri Potter, Eric and Jamie Meyer; daughter-in-law, Diane Meyer; grandchildren, Alison and Scott Grischke, Ethan Meyer, Jacob Meyer; loving great-grandchildren; siblings, Art Meyer, Judi Kilgore; several loving nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Rick Kiekintveld officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 19, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Fair Haven Church or Mel Trotter Ministries
