Gilbert J. Ploeg

Gilbert J. Ploeg, age 79, of Allendale, passed away, at his home, under the loving care of his family and Faith Hospice on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. He retired from Steelcase and loved spending summers fishing at the lake up north. He made many friends over the years. Gilbert also enjoyed his winters in Georgia where he was able to spend time with family. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Geraldine; children, Rick (Sheryl) Ploeg, Terrie (Bruce) McSorley, Marge (Scott) Smith, John (Cindy) Ploeg, Barb (Todd) Baareman, Gilbert (Vonda) Ploeg, Tracy (Brian) Gallagher, Mike (Melissa) Ploeg; 35 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM on Monday at St. Luke University Parish, 6163 Lake Michigan Drive, Allendale, with Fr. Chuck Cunniff Celebrant. Interment will be held at Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
