Gertrude Dykema

Gertrude K. Dykema, age 90, of Jenison, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 23, 2023. She was born May 23, 1933, to the late John and Helen Regts. Gertrude enjoyed sewing and knitting, working on puzzles, and golfing with her husband and friends. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gertrude and her lifelong friend, Barb Vredevoogd, began the Meals at Home program through Sunset Manor, and were honored at the Sunset Volunteer Appreciation Dinner last spring.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Thomas and Kitty Dykema, Michael and Janet Dykema, Janice and David Dyk, Joyce and Bernie Byker; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Regts; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ed and Normalea Dykema, John Dykema; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, Dale; grandson, Jared Thomas Dykema; daughter-in-law, Dawn Dykema; brother, Capt. Gerald Regts; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl and Betty Dykema and Joan Dykema.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Chaplain Michael DeWitt officiating. A private burial will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 9:30-11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
