Gerald “Jerry” Van Noord

Gerald (Jerry) Van Noord, age 97, of Wyoming, formerly of Holland, passed away peacefully with his family by his side under the care of Hospice on Monday, January 28, 2019.  Born and raised in Jamestown, Gerald married Arlene Nyenhuis and were blessed with 63 years of marriage. The first years were spent owning and operating the Wilson Ave grocery store. They were charter members of South Grandville CRC. Jerry and Arlene moved to Holland, MI in 1959, where he worked as a real estate broker, developer, and one of the first appraisers in the area. Jerry was an avid golfer, card player, and wood carver. Jerry and Arlene volunteered to assist victims of natural disasters for many years with CRWRC (now World Renew). They were generous with the resources God had entrusted them with, blessing others in many different ways. Jerry cherished his family and they were blessed to have a contented, loving Dad for many years.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene in 2010; son, Cal in 2017; and several of his siblings and their spouses. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his children, Char and Dave Troost, Sandy and Lewis DeKryger, Sheri and Gregg Bolt; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Gladys Doornbos; sister-in-law, Henrietta Nyenhuis; special friend, Gloria DeMaagd; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Emmanuel Hospice (David),  and the many workers at First and Main for their attentive care. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at noon, at Matthysse Kuiper Degraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Dr SW, Grandville, with nephew, Pastor John Witvliet officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family an hour prior to the service on Saturday.
