
Gerald L. Alvesteffer, age 80, of Cedar Springs, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, December 16, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Dorothy Alvesteffer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Nickolyn Alvesteffer; children, Robert and Tracy Alvesteffer, Traci and Mark Shaffer; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Duane Alvesteffer, Dan Alvesteffer, Greg Alvesteffer; sister, Darlene Seger; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Gerald valiantly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a loving, caring husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed playing golf and watching sports. Most of all he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. His greatest joy was to be with his family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 3110 17 Mile Rd NE, Cedar Springs, with Fr. Lam Le presiding. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, January 6, from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to S. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
