George Bruce Erwood

George Bruce Erwood, 93, of Kentwood, went home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2024. He was born on May 26, 1930 to George A. and Eugenie C. (Magnan) Erwood in Grand Rapids, the first of their five children. George attended Catholic Central High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marines, then earned an accounting degree from Davenport Institute. He was employed at various companies in the areas of accounting and finance, and later operated Eagle Real Estate Services. George will be lovingly remembered by Sally, his wife of almost 54 years; his children: Valerie, Thomas, Ann (Aaron) Wharton, and Paula; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother Michael; brothers-in-law: Roger (Mary), P. Thomas, and Richard (Sunop) Feutz; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. George was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth; sister, Jackie Busch and brothers: David and Dennis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 11 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 1253 52nd St., Kentwood, with Rev. Peter Vu presiding. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Sunday, March 10 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood and on Monday, March 11 from 10 to 11 AM at the church prior to the service. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or St. Mary Magdalen Church. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Faith Hospice-Trillium Woods for their loving care of George.
