Gene “Butch” DeJonge

Gene E. DeJonge, age 79, of Allendale, MI, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday December 15, 2021. Butch was a kind and loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who was blessed with a great sense of humor. His contagious grin would bring a smile to everyone he would meet. He will be dearly missed. Butch was born in Zeeland, MI. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Many memories were made up at deer camp over the years. He worked for 25 years at Keeler Brass as a paint supervisor, 12 years as a paint manager at Lacks Industries, and 10 years at Lakeland Finishing as a paint technician Above all, Butch’s faith in God and devotion to his family will be a legacy to remember forever. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman & Leona (Riemersma) DeJong and sister, Beverly Knoll. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Karen; children, Gene (Janis) DeJonge Jr, Tab (Renee) DeJonge, Doralynn (Tom) Runyon, Joy (Mike) DeJong, Karrie (Tim) Smith, Daphane DeJonge, Don (Jennifer) Barnes, and John (Rachel) DeJonge, 25 grandchildren, 15 ½ great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 22, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Lighthouse Christian Ministries, 13858 Lincoln St, Grand Haven, MI, with Pastor Steve Turrell officiating.
