November 22, 2021

Gary Lee “Joe” Brinks, age 78, of Grandville, was called home to be with Jesus on Monday, November 22, 2021, and is now singing with the angels. Gary was a precious, loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa who is gone from us too soon. You were truly loved by all who knew you. We will all live on and strive to meet the amazing example of God you shared with us. Gary was happily employed at Ted Miedema Cement Contractors for 45+ yrs. turning boys into men and more recently worked part time for Valley Trucks delivering parts and smiles. He was one of 8 children. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Anna (Mulder) Brinks; sister, Dorothy; brothers, Bob and Dennis; and sister-in-law, Shirley. He is survived by his brothers, Carl (Kay) Brinks, Russel Brinks, Duane (Dorothy) Brinks and Melvin (Karen) Brinks and sister-in-law, Peggy Finkbeiner. He was raised in Middleville, met and married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn (Beuschel) Brinks, and they were married on October 26, 1962. Every day he would ask “Did I tell you I love you, Babe?” They raised their family of four - Scott (Ronda) Brinks, Wendy (Mike) Bisbee, Lisa (Greg) Voet and Stacy (Loren) Lemmen - in Grandville and still reside there. He has seven grandchildren, Joshua (Chelsea) Brinks, Nathaniel (Amanda) Brinks, Jessica (Noah) Farrant, Jordan (Kailee) Bisbee, Travis (Olivia) Voet, Samantha (Erin) Hillary and Eric (Alexandra) Lemmen. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren. He served and raised his family at Bethel Lutheran Church. He was a constant staple in the choir and enjoyed a lifelong love of singing with his brothers. He was full of life and had an amazing love for his God. He will forever be known for his contagious smile that was bright as the sun. He had a strong, mountain-of-a-man handshake that could knock you over if you didn’t have your feet planted firmly on the ground and the best hugs you were ever blessed to receive. He was also very well known for his Garyism’s - one of his favorite one’s is “This isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later.” A private family graveside service will be held at Floral View Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, January 6, 2022. A memorial walk will be held from 2:30-3:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Pointe Church, 3350 Baldwin St., Hudsonville, MI 49426. Please enter at the East Entrance Door C (the family’s wishes are that out of respect for everyone’s health and safety, no hugs be given at this time, even though we would love them so very much). There will be significant spacing for those who desire social distancing. In lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations to Bethel Lutheran Church, 3655 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville, MI 49418.
