
Garold “Jerry” Lee Haverdink, age 81, of Grandville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. Jerry was a kind and loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who dearly loved his family and was blessed with a servant’s heart. He served his Lord with his time and talents at his church, volunteering in his community and mission trips, and serving others in whatever need. He was a career salesman, most recently retiring from the floor covering industry. Jerry was blessed with musical talent and enjoyed singing. Above all, his love for his family and his Lord was evident to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Arnold Hoezee, and brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Linda Haverdink. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn (Spoelma); children, Cindy and Peter Hanson, Carrie and Bruce Holstege, Greg Haverdink; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren with one soon to arrive; his siblings, Hazel and Roger Hielkema, Gladys and Ken Hielkema, Jarvis and Alyce Haverdink, Joan and Bruce Quist, Roger and Sheryl Haverdink, Rose and Don Poortvliet; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Harriet Joyce and Tom VandenBerg, Darlene and Doug Oostendorp, Roger and Beth Spoelma; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Messiah Christian Reformed Church, 2900 Springdale St., Hudsonville with Pastor Gale Tien and Pastor Gerry Koning officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, June 30 from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and also from 10-11 am prior to the service at church.
